Hi,

My PC does not connect to the internet with an ethernet cable when it is connected through a switch. When I connect it directly to the router it works.

All ports in the switch work. I have even tried with the same cable to other units. Here everything works.

My Motherboard is a MSI B450 Gaming Plus.

What to do?

You need to connect a cable from the router to the switch, and then connect your computers to the switch.

A switch is a "dumb" device, it just moves data packets between ethernet ports. The router has to be connected for your network card to get an IP address and all that.

Does the port light up at all when you plug your PC into the switch?

What model switch? It shouldn't make a difference but just want to see if any known issues or anything pop up.

No, it does not light up, neither on the switch port nor the pc. The switch is a Goobay 1000 base-t gigabit.

Hmm, I wonder if your NIC has EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) or some other power setting causing an issue. Might want to poke around in the NIC settings with the PC attached to the switch (and obviously to the router as well) and see if flipping settings does anything. Write down what they are now and then change one by one and see if anything causes link light.
