Hey everyone! I wanted to look into improving my rig. I have a 700 dollar budget.

My rig currently has an i7 6700k

a GTX 1060 6gb

32 GB of ram (not the fast mhz though)

any other specs that could help, let me know. I am just looking for the best bang for my buck improvements.

at that budget, you can practically upgrade the whole system. though, i would recommend to just upgrade the GPU. That CPU is still relevant so id say, wait it out before you upgrade that like wait out the zen 3 cpu as it looks like it will be released as soon as next year.

Going for a 2070S or even a 2080S is not impossible since bottlenecking is still not that felt with that CPU.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

CURRENT PC SPECS

GPU COOOER      : ID Cooling Frostflow 120 VGA (Stock cooler overheats even when undervolted :()

STORAGE         : Seagate Baracudda 1TB and Kingston SSD
PSU             : Thermaltake Lite power 550W (Gonna change soon as i dont trust this)
CASE            : Rakk Anyag Frost
CPU COOLER      : ID-Cooling SE 207
CASE FANS       : Mix of ID cooling fans, Corsair fans and Rakk Ounos (planned change to ID Cooling)
DISPLAY         : SpectrePro XTNS24 144hz Curved VA panel
MOUSE           : Logitech G603 Lightspeed
KEYBOARD        : Rakk Lam Ang

Oh!? I saw some interesting bottleneck stats, but if I can just do an upgrade to just the GPU for now. Unless I get another spicy suggestion, but the 2070S is likely what I would go for, in my mind anyway.

Assuming it's not a lot more expensive than a 5700 XT, go for it.

It's a good system, maybe the GPU is light depending on what you use it for.

I'll admit, I've never owned or even really considered non-NVIDA graphics, but I will definitely take a close look!

It's 90% the same affair just with red stickers and software color. If all you are doing is gaming, it's 100% identical to having an Nvidia card

I have good storage. I have two SSDs, 1 is an m.2, a samsung one (I can't remember the number. 600 series I think) I just got a 144 hrz 1080p monitor (I can't really see the definition difference well with 4k anyway.) I have another pair of 1080p monitors set up as well. So three total.

I have a Razor Huntsman Keyboard Elite, and a Steel Series Rival 600 mouse. I have started to notice some slow downs on my system but the config is about 5 years old (i built it when all of that tech was brand spanking new.)
