Hi everybody,

I'm hoping y'all can help me with my problem that I can't seem to solve.

I'm doing a budget gaming build and I can't figure out what the problem is. This is my 2nd build, didn't have any problems the first time a few years back.

Parts list:

  • SilverStone ET750-G 750W 80Plus Essential Power Supply
  • Asus TUF B450M-PLUS Gaming AM4 mATX Motherboard
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core Socket AM4 3.4GHz CPU Processor
  • Crucial 4GB DDR4 2400MHz Desktop Memory
  • Cooler Master MasterBox NR400 Tempered Glass mATX Compact Case
  • Sandisk 128gb SSD

Steps I've taken:

  1. reduced down to CPU, 1 stick ram, 1 ssd
  2. I've already warranty returned the MOBO twice (1st time it was a bad board, 2nd time they say it's fine).
  3. I've tested the SSD in an enclosure and it works fine in there.
  4. I've used 3 different ram sticks.

Having tested the SSD, been told the MOBO is fine and having 3x different ram I feel like the only component left is the CPU.

On boot, It's giving a 1 long 4 short beep code which equals hardware component failure (that's it - no other items mentioned in the manual)

With dealing with the return process for the MOBO and etc... this build is going on 3 months 🤦‍♂️

Link to photos and video.

Any help would be appreciated.

Shouldn't it run with out one?

It won't be able to display anything, which could be enough to trip the board's error code. Some boards can be configured to run without GPU, but in that case the system can only be controlled with remote access.

@del-dom if you don't have anything basic to toss into the PCIe slot, you'll need something like a 2400G.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Just tested it out and that was the problem.

Holy shit I feel like an idiot. A happy idiot but an idiot.

Yep, that was it. Last build I did had onboard graphics so during previous troubleshooting when the MOBO was bad I had gotten used to trying it without the GPU as that was recommended elsewhere to cut down on variables.

Thanks for the reply though :)

2600 has no iGPU. Only Ryzen CPUS with a G in the model name have one such as Ryzen 3 3200G

Also, 4gb of ram is going to hold you back A LOT. I'd say go for an absolute minimum of 8gb.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. That was the problem.

I actually have another 32gb scavenged from elsewhere but I hadn't been using it for the most recent trouble shooting.

Thanks for the reply :)
