Access point not working while connected to switch

So i have an access point connected to my router, with everything working ok. I tried to connect the ap via a new switch i got and it doesnt work. I keeps saying obtaining ip address which i asume means it isnt connected to the router. I have have tried all the ports on the switch. (this is the one : https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-sf1005d/ version 15). any help is appricieted thanks.

Does the link show up on all the devices? Dock a packet cap show data going through the switch

 

Why did you get a 10/100 switch? Id spend the extra buck and get a gigabit one

idk i guess i bought the first one i saw. XD im not very educated in these matters. What do you mean does the link show?Thanks for the reply.

do the devices you have connected show a link up? Is there a light next to the port?

yes both ports have the lights on, the access point as well.

Do you have anouther switch you can test? Im gonna guess bad switch. You can try running some packet caps if you really want to troubleshoot

i do not have another one. could this be related to router settings?

pretty unlikely, they should be plug and play. Id still try a router reset.

the switch is also connected to the router with a cable?

after reseting the router, the port on which the LAN cable is started pulsing on and off(on the switch).

i just noticed something...the ports on the switch all have 4 pins. shoudn't they have 8?

If it was just a 10/100 switch, not all pins are needed.

i mean its the only explanaition i can find. My access point has 8 pins on the port and so does my router. idk any more

i connected a POS device(card device) (which only has 4 pins)  to the router via the switch and it works flawlessly. idk whats going on.

How is the AP being powered? PoE injector or...

Have you tried setting a static ip?

and if you connect a device to that AP's wifi does it get an ip and connect to the internet?
