So i have an access point connected to my router, with everything working ok. I tried to connect the ap via a new switch i got and it doesnt work. I keeps saying obtaining ip address which i asume means it isnt connected to the router. I have have tried all the ports on the switch. (this is the one https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-sf1005d/ version 15). any help is appricieted thanks.

yes both ports have the lights on, the access point as well.

Do you have anouther switch you can test? Im gonna guess bad switch. You can try running some packet caps if you really want to troubleshoot

i just noticed something...the ports on the switch all have 4 pins. shoudn't they have 8?

If it was just a 10/100 switch, not all pins are needed.

Have you tried setting a static ip?

and if you connect a device to that AP's wifi does it get an ip and connect to the internet?
