Faster memory needed?

I am considering purchasing a corsair vengance lp 8gb 1866mhz ram. It is 83$ so its a well priced ram. I am not sure about the higher frequency advantages and disadvantages. I am a gamer and am going to do programming and video editing if that helps. Thanks

Won't see much of a difference with a 1600 MHz @ CL9. But if you wan't 1866, be my guest, I wen town that roar only because it was cheap when I got it (around October or November when it cheap)

Unless you are using an AMD APU, higher frequency benefits will be minimal at best.

It shouldn't make a noticeable difference unless you're using an APU or doing heavy content creation work.

Nope higher frequency in the future won't make too much of a difference, you should be happy with the Crucial memory, they are a great company, and know what they're doing with their products
