So about a year ago I bought an EVGA 780ti SC locally for $20. The problem with it is it would artifact when you ran games/3d workloads, but there were no problems on the desktop/regular use. I thought for $20 I would take take the chance, so I used the oven method to "reflow" the solder. To my surprise, the "fix" actually worked and the card no longer artifacts and games as well as a 780 ti should. I know the fix is only temporary, so I was wondering could I fold@home with it if/once it breaks again? I don't fully understand how folding works so I'm not sure if it would work. Also any other ideas what to do with it after it breaks again? So far I'm thinking try to fix it again, using it as a regular display output for a pc that doesn't have integrated graphics, or folding with it if it will work. I'm not going to resell the card or put it in a pc and sell it, since it will probably break soon. Looking forward to hearing your responses.
