Dell PowerEdge 2850 still usable?

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

Id argue its basically useless for modern uses. The cpu is realy slow compared to low end modern hardware, its missing lots of features so many programs just won't work, oses like esxi don't support it any more, there super power hungry and loud.

So I just got my hands on a free Dell PowerEdge 2850, and I was wondering if it still had any use today. As far as I can see, it came out in 2006, so it's got a few years on its back.

Yeah, I'd've figured as much. Can't seem to get it to post anyways, now that I've had some time with it.

There's a market for used scsi drives (even small ones) if you want to get a few bucks out of it.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*
