Hello! I am currently in the process of upgrading from my current PC and building my first one. I currently have a crappy outdated pre-built PC. I'm here because I am stuck in a situation of deciding which parts I want in my new PC. My budget is about $700 USD. So here's the problem...

The PC I want to build includes a(n):

  • Ryzen 5 2600x - $100
  • Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wifi Motherboard - $110
  • MSI GTX 1650 Super Ventus XS OC 4GB - $160
  • Inland 240GB 2.5" SSD - $35
  • Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 7200rpm 3.5" HDD - $40
  • GeIL EVO Spear 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 RAM - $64
  • Corsair VS 650W 80+ PSU - $64
  • NZXT H510 ATX Mid-Tower Case - $70

All of this totals to about $645

But..... My dilemma lies here

I recently found a pre-built computer with slightly more intriguing components on sale for a  attractive price. This pc has

  • AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor 3.7GHz
  • AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5
  • ASRock B450 Motherboard
  • 16GB DDR4-2666 RAM
  • 250GB NVMe SSD
  • 600W PSU
  • PowerSpec mATX 205 Case
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Home

All for $680. So my question is, which one should I go with?? I will mostly be using the PC for gaming and coding. I doubt I will do much streaming if any and little to no video rendering. I would love to build my own but I'm wondering if the Ryzen 7 build is too good to pass up for that price. Please help me!

Slow ram, probably crappy PSU. Stick with your build instead, and $100 for a 2600X is an excellent price. One thing I should note, the Corsair VS is not very good for a gaming PC. Get CX450 instead.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

if you are in the us, I would go with this, which is better than both the other builds

Do you really recommend the 2600 over the 2600x? I thought the 2600x was a better value and better for gaming?

I think there's a local shop involved or something, the original post has a 2600X at $100.

Yes, there is a Microcenter near me that is having a sale on the 2600x for $100. They also are giving $20 off a motherboard if paired with the CPU. I'm just trying to decide if I should go with that build or the pre-built 2700x build

Mobo and CPU bundle of that type of bargain is what I'd go with.

I agree, I think that's what I'm going to do. I likely wouldn't need all those cores on the 2700x either. Plus I really just want to build it myself lol. Thank you all for your help! I'm gonna update my part list with some of the better parts you guys recommended.
