OC guide?

is there a graphics card overclocking guide anywhere? AMD RX 580

I live in misery USA. my timezone is central daylight time which is either UTC -5 or -4 because the government hates everyone.

- Download MSI Afterburner and Unigine Valley Benchmark.

- Open up MSI Afterburner and max out your Power Limit

- Increase the core clock by a bit at a time (25MHz at a time) and same goes for memory.

- Then stress test your GPU (run Unigine Valley Benchmark) for 10 to 15 minutes.

- If the application doesn't crash, then your overclock is stable but if Unigine Valley Benchmark crashes, then your overclock isn't stable.

- If your overclock is stable, keep increasing the core/memory clock.

- If your app crashes, you have two options: either add more voltage or decrease the core/memory clock.

- You can also modify your fan curve in MSI Afterburner (Settings > Fan > Enable user defined software automatic fan control) to your preference.

- Keep your temps in check, try to stay under ~80°C when running the benchmark.

- Check for GPU artifacting as this problem occurs when your memory clock is unstable or too high.

You should be shooting for 1425-1500mhz depending on your card, but what ^^^ said is very good information.

i use F@H so I normally run furmark for 30 mins to make sure temps stay in check and everything’s stable, but if your just gaming unigine valley works great

The above is good for starting, but I wouldn't say it's the final determination of a stable clock.

I was able to get +100 core and +675 memory in running Valley for 30+ minutes without crashing. Crashed in 10 minutes playing GTA V. I think you need varied workload to really stress an overclock before saying it's stable. Also would only crash quickly at certain parts of the map; others would run for longer without crashing. Temps were always below 70 C.

Turns out the core clock is what was most sensitive in my case and anything over +75 core would crash after 10-15 minutes gaming. Additionally, I saw essentially no FPS gains above +300 memory using Valley and free cam. Backed off to +275 memory and kept it there.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!
