The parts in your original build are compatible, you shouldn't face any issues.

However, you could have slightly better performance for less. Definitely change that motherboard!

Here's a build with a better motherboard, CL16 ram and a case with better airflow (I have no hands-on experience ith the TT V200 TG, but it doesn't look very promising with the glass front - regarding airflow). I also went with a 2080 Super and landed at just above 2k. If that's too much you can either drop down to the 2070 Super or a Ryzen 3600 or get a B450 motherboard.

A 3600/2080 Super build with a B450 motherboard would cost you just shy of CAD1800.

Also wondering if I would be better off getting the ryzen 5 3600x and then spending the extra money on a rtx2080

Will this be a gaming build primarily? You could even drop down to the 3600 then, the extra cost for the X isn't worth it.

Will i notice any significant benefit with the 3700x over the 3600x

If you do video editing, like you mentioned earlier, the difference should be quite noticeable. Also you have to quote people so that we can see when you respond, or use @ShinRamen to send a notification.
