Upgrades for my computer.

Hey I'm no expert on computers or anything but I built one with my brother a few years ago and I was looking to upgrade some of the parts to help increase the performance of games I play on it. I don't know what to upgrade first or what to get in those spots for an upgrade, so I thought I'd come here for help.

Computer Specs (That I know):

Processor- AMD FX 6300 Six-Core Processor

RAM- 8.00 GB

GC- Nvidia 1060

Ryzen 2600X or 3600 depending on budget.

MSI MAX or Gigabyte Aorus B450 motherboard.

16GB 3200mhz DDR4.

Either keep the 1060 or go for a RX 5600XT.

I 2/3 agree with this list but would switch out the 2600 for a 1600AF, since it's a large price difference for a very small performance difference. Other than that it looks golden. Edit: it occurred to me that PCPartpicker doesn't list the 1600AF for some reason,

Cool. Is it essential to replace my motherboard with these others?

You need AM4 for Ryzen CPU's, they are not cross compatible with AM3+ motherboards.

There are no 1600 AF's on PCPartPicker, so have sourced one from here: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-1600/p/274-003V-00043?Description=ryzen 1600 af&cm_re=ryzen_1600_af-_-274-003V-00043-_-Product&quicklink=true

Dunno if this helps but on amazon it's only $85 https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Stealth-Cooler/dp/B07XTQZJ28/ref=sr_1_1=8-1

Okay so my parts are only compatible with my current motherboard and if I were to upgrade I'd also need to upgrade the motherboard. Is that what you are all saying?

The 1600 AF is on PCPartPicker https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8HqBD3/amd-ryzen-5-1600-12nm-32-ghz-6-core-processor-yd1600bbafbox  For some reason it never appears on the main selection list, if you want to include one in a system build list start from the page I linked and then add on the left side, which will take you back to the system build list with the 1600 AF added.
