How can i install windows 10

Hello guys,

First of all, I hope everyone is doing great,hope everything is fine.

So since I got some free time on my hands i was wondering.

Right now i have my os installed on my hdd and recently i bought an ssd.Is there a way to transfer the os from that hdd to an ssd.

Now i dont have a usb available that has more than 8gbs of space,i do have a spare laptop that has a win 10 too on it.

So I'd rly appreciate help,i want to restart my system anyways.

You can just clone the drive over with a tool like gparted. If the hdd ls larger than the ssd you'll need to shrink the partition first.

Its a 500GB HDD and the SSD is 240.

how much space on the 500gb drive are you using? You can shrink the partition then clone it over.

180GBs,just my os and some small apps.

So i was wondering.Is it easier to do a full reset of my system 1st.Then do the cloning.

I would do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD and format the HDD and use it has a second drive for your data. 

 

1. Backup your data on another drive

2. Create a Windows 10 USB media using this tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

3. Plug your SSD and your HDD to your motherboard and PSU

4. Boot on the Windows 10 media and delete all the partitions

5. Install Windows 10 on the SSD

6. Format the hard drive using the built in disk management tool

7. Transfert your files on the HDD

8. Install your programs on the SSD

 

That way you'll have a clean fresh start with your new SSD.
