mobile data and VPN

im curious to know how a VPN effects mobile data cause as for me i dont have access to cable internet and i use mobile data as home internet cause i have to gonna switch over to wireless home internet in the near future i was just wondering if a VPN will help make my internet data better or worse in terms of prioritization depriortization congestion and speed

If you just want to save data, use your phone's standard data saver mode. It doesn't make much sense to use a VPN on cellular if your goal is to save it. Also, it depends on your carrier. For example, if I use a VPN on AT&T to access Hulu Australia, they get pissed and shut off my access while WiFi can still access it. It depends on what you plan on doing.

im not really interested in saving data i should have unlimited plus i pay 25$ for unlimited LTE hotspot so im wondering how it effects those four things when i use a VPN

It comes down to who you have as a carrier and what they have in Terms and Conditions in regards to VPN's, not just what you are paying. Technically, no one has unlimited. You are still paying a crap ton regardless of what plan you have. I recommend standard data saver while waiting for your WiFi to be set up. You can run a VPN if you want on cellular, but look through their ToS and your bill to make sure you aren't gonna be paying 100$+ tomorrow. I barely use data and turn it off when I don't need it.

im with tmobile and if they decide to drop a 100$ fine me ill just drop them as a service and get someone else sure itll leave a bad mark on my credit score but fuck those guys i would not give them one more dollar

Still, check their ToS Agreement for VPN usage. AT&T allows it, but it has to be linked to a server in the US or territories like Guam. It may be the same for T-Mobile. With WiFi, you can connect to almost any country, depending on service provider. I use the VPN that comes with Bitdefender.

im paying like 100$ a month and thats not including 360 protection and phone finance and this is what i get on an average day  so i could not give less of a fuck what tmobile thinks about my using a VPN if i can find ways give myself good internet speeds ill do it its better at peek hours but its not peek hours all the tim

So you are aiming for speed if I understand correctly? Well, a VPN isn't really built for speed. That's not really it's primary purpose. Cellular is based on what speeds your carrier can provide at that time, there's no up time or down time. They control it based off location. If anything, a VPN would actually slow you down, depending on which one you decide to go with. I've used a few, but the ones that market themselves to be the fastest aren't really the safest and most secure. The data saver built into your phone can provide slightly better speeds as it is blocking most background transfers, which is pretty much what a VPN does already.

A VPN will not in any way or form change prioritization or congestion. None.

We are then talking about different kinds of prioritization, but yes, if your ISP does traffic-shaping based on what Internet-service you're connected to, a VPN might help with that. Prioritization at the cell-tower and congestion, however, are not affected by a VPN. Two different things.

A VPN happens at TCP/IP-level, which is on top of the cellular-connection, ie. a VPN-connection simply cannot affect the underlying medium.

I already said, there is nothing you can do about congestion or the cellular-connection prioritization that happens at the tower. The only thing you can do anything about is the TCP/IP-level prioritization and that's with a VPN or similar service. If the tower is congested and decides to give priority to higher-paying customers, then you're simply shit out of luck.

but i was told there is certain data that is always prioritized and that all my data some of my data would not be contstricted by deprioritzation when i use a VPN with mobile data also i saw a guys internet get faster with a VPN here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_Y2MxJP-V0

Mobile data is very tricky because it's not fixed. Transmission between the tower and your phone can vary a ton even in a short period of time. Unless you do dozens of samples with test that go over long periods of time and can guarantee consistency between your phone and the tower anything showing a couple tests before and after is nothing but bullcrap. A VPN is going to hide your data and a provider is going to look it and classify it as bulk, best effort, traffic. It's not magically going to give you more speed, ever. If there is more bandwidth then you might get some more speed but they will see person X is sending Y amount of data and congestion levels are Z at the tower. Customer A is paying for B at some guaranteed level of throughput they are going to get that over you, always.

i pay 100$ for a month for internet i could get gigabit speeds for that much money but im getting only a few dozen mbps that is just robbery

WiFi is different than Cellular. You aren't being robbed, you are just getting what you are paying for. My WiFi via Cox costs 60$, my Cellular via AT&T and Mint Mobile costs 70$. This is monthly. If you are disappointed in your plan, switch to a different plan or carrier. This is why you need to read the ToS so you aren't surprised by anything like you are now.

As mentioned a VPN would only help you IF the provider decides to slow down certain types of traffic, which is not the norm.
