Best budget vr headset?

Go to solution Solved by DR2D2,

A windows mixed reality would be a good headset.  For example, the Samsung mixed reality is on sale at amazon. You don't need any blocks for the setup since it tracks it via the cameras.

This has been a long journey getting to this point to be honest. I first starting looking at used vr headsets because I assumed with all of the new headset's being released, the old ones might be cheaper, but that wasn't really true and not many were available near me. I can't really afford a rift s seeing as they are going for like $600 because of the demand so I don't really know what to do. Im seeing a lot of people commenting online saying that a lot of mixed reality headsets are going for like $150 US at microcenter but I dont have one near me so I don't know what do do there. I also looked on amazon and that didn't lead me any closer.

TLDR: Im very new to vr (yes I have a vr ready computer) and I want to get into pcvr but I am very confused and don't have a huge amount of money. I don't really want to spend more than $300 and like I hope there is something cheaper than that but I just have no idea what I am looking for.

What I am going to do with the headset. The two things I want to do is try drawing in vr and playing minecraft in vr using vivecraft.

Sorry for the wall of text, im just confused, sorry

PS: The one thing I am willing to pay a little extra for is not waiting weeks for a headset. Like if something was on amazon prime or in a store (I know that's really unlikely) that would be really cool. sorry

You could get an oculus rift for around €300 (if you dont mind used) on amazon or ebay. Although the rift is a lower resolution vr headset, and its starting to show its age. But if its just as an entry into vr, i think a rift would be great. Even better if you could find an Oculus Quest. They are around €400, but you could look around for a discounted one. The Quest is much newer and can be used stand alone and with a pc (using an extra cable, not sure if included?).

One the to keep in mind with the current WMR tracking is there are only 2 front facing cameras so if you move the controllers out of their forward facing field of view they will loose tracking and drift off.

For drawing and minecraft this probably wont be too much of a problem.

For games where you are reaching behind your back or swinging your arms wildly you will notice the issue.
