Has anyone heard of Dwolla? I can't seem to find any legit information on it Some of my friends claim it is like Pay-pal but, yea, obviously going to ask around first. Is this site a scam or what?

What makes you want to use it over Paypal?

I'm looking for various sites like Paypal because I heard Paypal has the nasty habit of letting people continuously guess account holder's credit card number and other information in order to get access to the account. Plus I'm looking for sites like Paypal that doesn't limit the person if they are a student/under a parent like Paypal does.

I personally don't see how that's a huge issue...having to guess a 16 digit number seems like a lot of work.

If they can guess your credit card number, you've got a lot more issues than them accessing your account.

I think you'd run into more issues with the other systems not being accepted in nearly as many places.

You could always just make your own account instead of you parents?

I meant the PIN code for the credit cards, and I'm looking for safe alternatives for my brother. Paypal accounts require bank accounts and he wants to be able to make money via art commissions and the like, plus they have some pretty heavy fees I've heard when it comes to the checks they send instead of putting money into a bank.

 

So I searched up some sites and Dwolla came up. I just can't find any info on if it is legit or not.

I have never heard of them sending checks. Why wouldn't you just get it deposited right into your bank account? It's way easier and saves a trip to the bank.

If you don't want it connected to your Savings account just open a Checking account for it.

The fee's aren't so bad, it's 2.9% + 0.30. Just charge it to the buyer, or include it in the initial cost.

Pin code for credit cards? I have no idea what you're talking about. If you try logging into the account more than 3 times I think with the wrong password you have to wait half an hour.

Paypals security is excellent. Almost too good, as I've been locked out of my own account a couple times because they weren't sure if something was legit or not.

 

If he's doing transactions in person, he should just get one of those credit card readers that plug into a cell phone.

Yes, you get charged per transaction. Everyone does. But people are going to be a lot more accepting of that.

It goes cash > credit card > Paypal > other. If someone said "just use Dwolla to pay" pretty much everyone I know would laugh and walk away. Because it's not known. Credit cards are rock solid safety wise, and Paypal is right behind them.

Just get a disposable credit card. then you can use it through paypal as a guest. you don't even need to sign up to paypal.
or some sites will just take the credit card details without the aid of paypal.

easy quick and if anything bad happens you only lose the amount left on the card and nothing else.

but I would just get paypal and set up two step verification. even if somebody gets your account they cant buy anything as they would need your mobile as well. because it gets sent a code you have to input when you want to by something.

He has no bank account and because of that, you can have a check be sent to you instead but that still leaves the problem that he doesn't have a bank account.

How old is he that he doesn't have a bank account? I had mine opened for me when I was 10.

Well, the last time I tried to use it, I couldn't, so I'm going off of that.
