So I watched PyroJoe's video about a VAC ban wave that ban hundred of thousands of bot being ban at 1.4K to 1.6K of TF2 experince. In the reddit someone said Value might maybe nearly finished Half Life: Alyx so the team that control the VAC bans can go to banning cheating bots again. Could it be a new major update?

I'm pretty sure whoever are in charge of VAC bans, aren't developers that would be needed to work on Half Life Alyx. Valve would be insane to put actual devs on something as mundane as looking up through VAC reports instead of, you know, working on important things.

VAC bans don't happen as they are found guilty of cheating. You may get flagged on day 1 but only get banned on day 65, since they prefer to ban in waves after x amount of time. Which is dumb AF, but hey, that's how they do it.

Valve's had some sporadic VAC ban waves in TF2 that weren't anywhere near a semi-important update. It's probably just that.

the idea is that doing it in waves, makes it more difficult for the bot/hack creators to identify what it was that triggered the flag, thus "theoretically" making it harder for them to stay under the radar next time.

What's the point when the game is literally free. They can remake a new steam account and go back to hacking right away since it's not like they'll get banned before a few days/weeks once more.

That sort of tactic might be somewhat effective in a paid game where there's a "barrier of entry", but free? Nah.

yep! i completely agree.  and thats just one reason for doing it, im sure there are others that make more sense on the business side of things.

more than likely they keep the bots and stuff in to bump up the active player count to look good for shareholders, and as soon as they show off their numbers and it doesnt matter anymore, then they ban them.    but thats "probably" just tin-foil hat stuff.
