Photoshop Issues

I use Photoshop CC 2020 with the newest updates.

My home workstation spec is linked in my signature.

I have 2 main problems.

Problem 1:

When I export a large file (48,000 x 36,000 which is 80" x 60" @600dpi) It takes forever. (I usually export in .pdf print format and very rarely .png)
However, it never uses more than 20% of my CPU. It's usually using about 10%.

It also does not use my GPU either.

Is there a way to speed up this process?

Problem 2:

When I use type tool at aforementioned resolution or larger, it will lag severely while typing or moving the words/letters.

This does not affect when I use the other layers or editing other parts of the file.

But when the letters are being manipulated via type-tool it sometimes even take a minute to move/add letters.
This doesn't happen if the letters are small or the background is simple.

Related to both problems, is there a way to force photoshop to use multi-thread?

It literally uses 1 thread.....

If I'm doing the math correctly, that's a 5GB file, thats quite a large file and you might be saturating the SSD cache when writing to it

As to the multi-core, PS is supposed to take automatic advantage of that, but read this for maybe some enlightenment

Yes, it is a .psb file (psd with over 2GB) and it's uaully 4-10GB. I've had over 10GB files as well.

OH, is there a way to use RAM in place of SSD cache?

I have a decent sized RAM (64GB) and I'm planning on upgrading to 128GB soon.

I usually look at Puget System charts a lot but that article but their Photoshop testings are very different from what I do on PS.

Will 128GB optane drive as a dedicated cache drive help?

I used to do this but I broke the drive by accident lol...

Not an expert on Optane systems, but as a cache drive yes, it's supposed to make a difference. Fortunately they are cheap, so not much money lost if you give one a swing (assuming your system supports them)
