 So, this is my next build that I've been planning for some time, specifically as a gaming and remote management rig. I wanted to share with all of you :)

This build will be for playing video games, video recording and editing, reading, writing, etc.

Ftr (for the record), I work at Walt Disney World

Update:

I created an account on PCPartPicker and did these similar builds...

Intel = https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Quantum-Raven/saved/#view=8hNy4D

AMD = https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Quantum-Raven/saved/#view=QFnGqs

My primary computer that will replace my current build, which I built in 2015, except it won't be a virtualization host like the current one is, I plan to do separate builds for a hypervisor, a nas, and a jump server, but those will come with time. The new build will be for video games, writing, reading, video creation and editing, etc.

Also, thank you very much

Didn't want to go for Ryzen? It seems like it'd be better for the latter half of your demands.

If I'm being completely honest, I'm a little clueless about the details of Ryzen's latest... products. I'd like to try, but am cautious, because when I tried to do a Ryzen build, I had no idea how to find the right components between the processor and the baseboard

Example:

With Intel, I go to https://ark.intel.com and review processors based on what my needs are, and sort through and line up a top 5, and narrow my search from there. Once the processor is chosen, further review it, the socket that it is compatible with and go from there

From what I have seen and tried to search (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), AMD does not have a similar site to Intel's Ark site, so it's a lot harder to piece things together

I know PCPartPicker exists, but I'm not super interested in utilizing their service(s)

Any particular reason? It's literally just a parts list with vendor links.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I have a difficult time figuring out what I'm wading through when I'm looking for specific things, if that makes any sense

Update:

Played around with PCPartPicker and feel more comfortable with it now

I have no idea of they do or not...but it doesn't take much research to see what works with what. Wikipedia has lists of CPUs and sockets. Not using PCPartpicker is leaving an extremely valuable research tool behind.
