Macbook pro Audio Help

skylinetofast

I have a new macbook pro that only has usb c pots and one headphone jack. I have a home theater setup and i use a amplifier. my amplifier had 3 options for audio hdmi audio, rca audio and coax audio. From my testing with the amplifier rca an coax are the only way i should be connecting to my amplifier as i get more options with my amplifier. I am runing my speakers in a 5.1 config. I was wondering what is better for audio rca or coax and should i go from usb c or my headphone jack.

Dont use your headphone jack and dont use rca unless its litterally a 5.1 rca setup. if the coax is Digital coax that would be your best choice for a 5.1 connection from your computer, and you must find a usb adapter for it to get that digital 5.1 as the headphone jack only outputs stereo

Is there something wrong with getting surround sound from the HDMI connection?

nothing wrong with hdmi audio. I just don't get enough audio profiles with hdmi
