So I'm in the market for a PS4 now (for some exclusive titles and JRPG), right now the difference between the slim and pro in my country is about $70

While the Slim is compact and quiet, the Pro offers better graphics on "some" games AFAIK

Should I shell out more cash for the Pro now or go with the Slim?

I'm going to hook my PS4 into my Sony soundbar that connected to a 2016 4K Samsung TV but personally I don't care about 4K for now, all I need is a reliable console to game, no bells and whistles, and if the rumored PS5 is true about backward compatibility with PS4, then I'm not consider keeping the PS4 for too long

The ps4 slim will run most games at around 1080p 30fps. The ps4 pro is able to push higher framerates up to 60 fps (idk if some games are truly uncapped) or higher resolutions up to 4k.

I own a PS4 slim and while games run just fine on it I do wish that games did run a bit smoother sometimes.

You're not getting 60 fps in games on PS4 Pro. The weak cpu can't handle it. Lots of games in performance mode will typically run 45-50 fps, which looks like total crap IMO and I'd honestly rather just play at 30 fps since the system doesn't support any kind of adaptive sync.

Depends on the games you play. I play a ton of mlb the show and for me the jump from the slim to the pro was a huge improvement at 1080p.

I think the better question is what do you plan to play in the future?

Do you have any interest in Sony first party stuff like The Last of Us Part II, the next Spiderman, God of War sequel, Horizon Zero Dawn II etc etc,  they're all coming to market inside of the next 12 ish months so it's something you may want to consider.  Personally i'd just wait for the PS5 but if you have to buy now i'd say that the extra $70 is worth it (I had a stock PS4 and upgraded to a pro myself).
