It's meant to be low budget. And I will be adding 8GB Vengeance memory and an HD 7970 that I have laying around.

Any recommendations or changes that stay in the price range?

Thanks

you would be better off getting a full size case and a 6300 or 8320because that apu will bottleneck the 7970 alot

Sup SLS. Can you make some CPU and Motherboard changes that stay with AMD?

But why? The i5 3330 is far superior to a competitively priced AMD CPU of which is compatible with Mini ITX.

Well that is more than I wanted to spend on a CPU... AND I wanted to go witha  full AMD build for once.

Trust me, a full AMD system is not it's all cracked up to be. I have an Athlon X4 750K and it is outclassed in overall system snappiness by a Celeron G1610. It's the truth.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, or that this is the most efficient way to go. I'm just building an AMD system this time. Would the 6790k be the best bet for this price range?

I would scrap the MSI motherboard, and choose another brand. Probably will save you trouble with MSI. Try going with a intel mobo, because AMD processors in my opinion are low quality, and don't perform like an intel chipset. The gpu could be cheap now, and upgraded later. If budget is what you need then try getting a intel CPU, and a decent AMD GPU, and upgrading later on to nvidia

Yeah, APUs are mainly for people who want to save money and still get decent graphical power. An APU is just a waste if you have that 7970. (My A8-3850 bottlenecks my 650ti in some games..)

If you are using a dedicated gpu then there is no point going with a apu. It would be better to swap it out for a Athlon 750k or a low end i5 from Intel. Alternatively you could grab a Prodigy M and use a M-atx motherboard with a FX 6300.
