So I needed a better looking resume and I spend a couple hours working on one from livecareer.com. I found out that after spending hours on it that even though it comes up for free and is marketed as free, that is only for a literally plain text file and everything else they charge a crazy subscription. Is there any other builder you guys could recommend or a good way to copy paste so I don't spend so much time on it again?

I don't see the need for a fancy resume formatter, as long as its organized reasonably what matters is the content of the resume.

Well it was for a major tech company so I wanted it to be fancy lol, do they care about it?

Your resume will be parsed for keywords and compared to thousand others with a program. Nobody will ever see your fancy background images and custom bullet marks. You can write everything in Notepad.

But in case if someone is asking you to send them resume and they'll read it, it's still better to use regular editor, like Word and rely more on proper formatting and right choice of words rather than fancy templates. It just needs to be easy to read. You don't need any images there.

Well, you can build a beautiful resume on Word, Google Docs or Libre Office. However, the formatting is quite tricky and infuriating. Especially if you plan on building your resume in a table format (it won’t literally look like a table, but you’ll have 3 columns you can neatly fill in with all of your info).

A resume builder does all of the formatting for you and saves you the frustration.

With all of that being said, you can take half a day and make a resume for free with Libre Office or Google Docs. Libre Office offers more control on the formatting but the complexity and frustration is higher.
