Pomfrit

Is my psu good enough for nvidia gtx 970 ?

also should i get gtx 1060 6gb or gtx 970 4gb ?

edit: i could get used 970 for 70-90$
and 1060 for 120-150$

also any good ideas for an upgrade from 1050ti with my 450w psu ?

that PSU should be fine, have you considered getting anything newer, i.e the 1650 or 1660?

isnt the 1060 6gb better then 1650 ? also i couldnt find a used 1650 in slovenia...imma pair it with a i7 2600.
so what do you say about the 970 4gb ? would my psu be good enough?

the 1060 is still better compared to the 1650, would go with that over the aging 970, and 450 watts should be enough for that card, what are the rest of your specs?

would personally go with the 1060 if you can get your hands on 1, consumes less power and gives better performance overall, as long as you dont get the crazy triple fan version

(partial) OCed to +-4.1ghz? I guess the cpu then wants up to 130w then, add 50 for the mainboard/ram/drives. Thats below 200w. Now the gpu, will it ask more than 250w?

Nvidia says 500w minimum for the 970. If someone here said 450 is fine for it, that person should not be handing out advice anymore until he gets educated. You should follow up on fact checking as well for next time, so you don’t find yourself in a similar situation thanks to bad advice. I have a 650w powering my 970/x58 rig.

i think a 450w gold psu will be fine.

even his psu would be fine tbh but i wouldn't go near it anyway.

So you're fine in completely ignoring different capabilities of the so called 500w/450w psus, claiming that someone needs to get educated if he says a specific 450w from which it is known how much amps on 12v it provides would suffice, because nvidia says 500w is needed no matter what psu it actually is? Congrats.

It doesn't matter if it's white, bronze, gold or platinum, that's just the efficiency-rating.

No, I understand that.. all you had to do was go to the nvidia page and it would have said right there, 500w min. Running a psu at its ragged edge is not a good idea, they are surprisingly easy enough to hurt if you have the hardware to do it.

It is sufficent, providing up to 35amps on 12v while the card is probably around the 150w tdp.

Dang, now I must get re-educated.

maybe imma get it then cuz 70€ seems like a decent price since i can sell my 1050ti for more than that and get free performance

nvidia does state a 500w minimum, but i would find it hard for that system to draw that significant amount of power under load, the 450 watt should be fine

i dont see why its on its "ragged edge"
