Is anyone here familiar with graduate programs at UBC Vancouver? Specifically how hard is it to get into the pure math PhD program?

I’m from the states and all the forums I know are mainly focused on the programs in the US. I’m completely in the dark here.

Thank you mate. But I’ve already combed through the websites. I was hoping for insight about how things work behind the scene there from current/former students. Most of this stuff is carefully written by marketing and legal to present the school in a specific way and doesn’t show what they truly want in a candidate. Academia politics is just as bad as your regular politics.

You're probably better off asking on the Vancouver Reddit, or UBC Reddit. A lot of the users here are too young to have answers, or don't live in Vancouver.

UBC is a pretty sought after school, you'll have to go through interview processes etc. It's also going to be expensive for you as an International student, though I imagine cheaper than equivalent US top tier schools. You're looking at around $45k/year in tuition.
