I am going to be upgrading my GPU as soon as I get a little money in and I was wondering what are the differences between the rtx 2070 and super designs. I know they are the same GPU but I am talking about the design of it. like if you look at the MSI and Nvidia versions, you will see they are designed way differently. I am asking because is there a better design than another or does it matter? just want people opinions on this as I am leaning towards the MSI one as I have an MSI motherboard and I like their products so far.

They're not, the super has more cuda cores.

Unless you just mean 2070 to 2070 and 2070 super to 2070 super

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

A videocard consists out of two parts:

- The videochip, GPU

and

- The cooling solution and board design.

Nvidia makes the videochip and a reference design. Companies like MSI, Asus, EVGA, etc. take this GPU and board design and then make their own card based on it, with their own cooling solution.

In that sense, the MSI and Nvidia card are similar, but not exactly the same. In the past the Nvidia standard design had worse coolers, but now that is not a huge difference.

MSI has quite a few different cooler options, some are average/worse (like the Ventus) and some are quite good (like the Trio). In that sense it's not just a brand you're buying, you buy a certain videocard.

Keep in mind there is an RTX 2070 and a 2070 Super. The Super uses a different chip, which is actually better. If you can get the Super for a similar price, get that.

i have no idea how to reply to this. i know the super is better in terms of its computing power for a GPU but i was already looking into the super as it basically is the same price but i was just wondering if there was a better design for the card or were they all the same.

do you have a suggestion on which one is better?

The EVGA KingPin and MSI Lightning Z are the best.

Tier B options are still pretty good.

My RTX 2070 Super, with the EVGA XC Gaming has been doing quite good too, just a bit of coil whine on it. But as far as I have seen, most cards that use this much power have that to a certain degree.

thanks. i will look into these. and coil whine is no big deal. with the MSI motherboard i have i can turn on the gaming mode for this PC and with the apevia x Hermes case i have with the 200mm fan on the side. any coild whine will be drowned out by the fan.
