Ryzen Overclock?

why is it that my r5 2600 overclock won't stay at the o'c frequency like it fluctuates a lot?

Is it doing this under load, or at idle?

at idle but i noticed that also while gaming but i thought that an o'c would set the frequency at w/e it is set and dont downclock from there is it not?

It's dependent on the power saving features that you can disable in the bios, but there isn't any reason to disable them since it dynamically adjusts your clock speed based on whether or not it's needed for a particular task.

To speed up processor intensive tasks, what games were you testing with?

Hmm that actually should stress the 2600 enough to use your oc clock, what kind of oc do you have going?

4ghz i had it at 4.1 but those 100mhz would not let the pc be stable with the memory o'c to 3466hmz

Why would you want to the clocks to be at your OCd settings when at idle? That's silly. You gain nothing, you generate more heat, and you consume more power. It's like revving an engine at 100kph with the hand brake engaged and gear at neutral. When the need for processing resources arises, it kicks in faster than you can blink.

Since you said it also dips below the OC frequency when you're gaming, then maybe you want to share details about your cooling and temps, since those affect clock speeds when some settings are on auto.

Ryzen 5 2600 OCd to 3.9Ghz @ 1.275v l Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS Wifi l MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Super

GSkill TridentZ RGB 16GB DDR4 l NZXT Kraken M22 AIO l Deepcool Macube 310P

i used aida64 and cinebench r20 to monitor the temps and on aida it never went past 70c and cinebench never goes past 60c idc about noise so my fans are at full speed

it does still waste power to have the cpu running at full blast all the time, something I would suggest though is using ryzen master to monitor clock speed in the division and try to tweak settings in that if it isn't giving you the correct clock speed.
