good day,

recently i bought a 500gb SSD (silicon power A55) to use as a game drive

but after playing a bit of monster hunter world on it, i noticed MHW would freeze for ~10 seconds at times, and then resumed (and everyone would disconnect from my session)

i kept diagnosing for the root of the problem, and decided to move the game to my main OS drive, which is a samsung 860 evo 250gb, and the stutters never happened again

so im wondering if anyone had similar experience, where your game would freeze for 5-10 seconds at a time when using DRAMless SSDs?

i should also mention my system memory would be pinned at 15 out of 16gb (basically capped) when im gaming (and multitasking), so this could be the cause (same case when using 860 evo but no stutters)

i have yet to move mhw back to my game drive and test it without my RAM being full

my system is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YZvFGc

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

might be the ram then

I've used the A55 not only as a game drive but as a boot drive on a couple systems, my friend also loads mhw off his a55. definitely not a dram issue.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

yes, i suspect the drive is using part of my RAM as cache, just curious if other people are facing the same issues

edit: i should also add, the quest load times are horrendous (not the transition screen, but when u join a quest and it loads before u can select ready)
