5G and router compatibility

Does anyone know routers today have any uses for 5G in the future?

I'm trying to upgrade/range extend my home network by buying a router (probably AC67u), and I'm a bit concerned if AC67u will have any uses for 5G.

Are you talking about 5GHz WiFi or the 5G cellular network? If the first one, if the router does 802.11ac then it does support using 5GHz WiFi. If you mean the latter one, no, unless you specifically buy a router with 5G cellular-modem in it.
