A320M-S2H 3rd Gen Support

So my dad needs me to build a computer to replace his 8-year old old HP Desktop and since he doesn't do anything that requires a lot of processing power or something that stresses CPU too much so I think it would not be a bad idea to get a cheap $50 board and save $25-30 to pair with a cheap dual or quad core Ryzen APU. Upgrade ability with RAM and stuff like that isn't a worry. But the main thing is if supports Ryzen 3rd Gen out-of-the-box? I know the bios update came out nearly nine months ago but just wanted to make sure the model selling on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NYQQJJ?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1) has that BIOS updated already. Anyone buy this board recently and got it working with 3rd Gen Ryzen?

It looks like the box does not have the 'Ryzen Ready' badge, which a MB box will have if it is ready for Ryzen gen 3 right out of the box.

Oh nice, thanks for that. I totally missed it. Probably going to get this one.

It's the exact same price as the other, but the MSI Max series have the bios updates pre-installed!

dont, the VRM on it is actually terrible. no VRM heatsink, while the mosfets arent sufficient to power a lot of CPUs properly.

here is the minimum board that has Bios support out of the box.

edit: minimum for higher load.

if you are doing a purely office style system, you could save 5$ on something like this:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6d9tt6/msi-b450m-pro-m2-max-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-pro-m2-max

if you only run with a stock cooler. it should be fine.

That bad huh? I saw there was no heatsink, was the only one I could find within the stated budget, though. That 450m is much better, though.

5 phase VRM. 3 for vcore and 2 for SOC.

for SOC its almost fine.

true, tho lower budget really isnt filled with anything worth getting.

i will admitt i didnt read the entire OP, so you could run the a320 with the stock cooler under office type tasks.

Their main concern seemed to be the MB being Ryzen 3000 ready.

indeed it does,

id be fine with it running for a office system using only aircoolers.
