Had posted one possible build a little while back. Price points/available money to spend changed. Here is what I came up with, need as many opinions and eyes as I can get. This is my first build, intended to a bit of everything. Games I play are a broad spectrum, play pretty much every game type. Also have kids that will end up using it for homework.

***update*** forgot to add $3,000 or a little more available to spend, but was trying to stay under $3,000 just to have some money left over.

Hey Ryknow

its a bit hard to say something to your build, you can of cause use this for almost erverythign

you can save a bit there and there but all in all its a equlibrium build, i personaly think only 500GB SSD is a bit less for that price

the only thing that mabe miss is a Speaker/Headset

The focus may have issues with that graphics card, because it's got some problems with cards that have high transients.

Check this out instead

I’m not a fan of 2 fan AIOs in general for function except in certain situations which afaik this doesn’t seem to be.  They have the same heat dissipation profile as big air except they’re louder, more expensive, and more prone to failure which is more catastrophic when it happens.  A lot is being spent on RGB though and they are a low effort way to add more of it.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

@DG House

As far as audio, I have a headset already. I had not added case fans to it yet, was just getting the meat and potatoes posted.

@Lord Vile  @boggy77

I believe the 3800 v the 3700 was a $30

difference, would that savings have a legitimate effect?

@Fasauceome

I struggle so hard with mobo selection. I tried to use the tier list I found on here but found myself more confused than informed and thought the list had said the MSI bobo I had selected was a good one?

just talked to the wife and I may be allowed to bump up to a 2080 Ti, but would it make sense for a monitor that isn’t 4K capable?

there is literally no difference between them once you put a aio on them and enable pbo in bios (auto-overclocking)

the asus obo i suggested is in tier A, while the msi you picked is in tier C.

the 2080ti is not worth the price difference over the 2080 super.

I really do appreciate the advise and feedback!

@Lord Vile  which components don’t mesh well? If I make any of the suggested alterations I still end up with different makers across the board?

@Bombastinator  you suggest a 360 AIO or a air cooled cpu?

I mostly just think that a 240 AIO is sort of pointless if there is room and airflow available for a big air cooler.  They have the same wattage profile and a big air cooler is quieter, more reliable, and cheaper.  360 AIOs actually have larger heat envelopes than big air so they make more sense conceptually.  The 3700x has functionally not much overclock usefulness though so I don’t see why even big air would be useful though except as overkill for low noise.  My move for a 3700x would be a 4pipe air cooler or even just the stock cooler, though I’m learning the stock cooler can have problems with the quality of its fan bearing.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
