So I have noticed my sapphire rx 460 4gb oc lately is running hot, have never seen such Temps, about week a go I changed paste and cleand fans but still it run over 80c some times even to 87c.

I have generic midtower case, and don't have any fans on it.

Gpu is not cramped in to it, has about 10cm free space under it.

CPU has normal Temps(cpu has the same paste as gpu) .

Any suggestions to lower the Temps?

Or it's just old and I have to buy other gpu?

Tnx for help ?

You can look in wattman and change the fan curve to force the fan to always run at higher speed

it's in amd's control center, global settings, wattman etc

A cheap trick to cool your video card is also to just get a 92mm-120mm fan and attach it to your video card side using zip ties (or on the side panel) and let that fan give extra air flow.

GPU die degradation is real. Older GPU dies can certainly get to the point where they have to draw more current to keep operating at the same performance levels, and current is directly related to heat. If you want to make the card last longer, then try undervolting/underclocking the card a bit. You're performance will go down, but controlling the heat will make it last longer.

Really great info here, if you can stand to watch the whole thing:

I did fan speed change, but it gave me about - 3c on gpu

So Al little downclock can help a bit? But how much?

That depends on what your acceptable level of performance from the card is.

I'd recommend getting MSI Afterburner(or similar), and start by setting the power limits just slightly lower, maybe try undervolting the core a little, 25mv steps(baby steps). Do this iteratively until the temps drop a bit, then stop if the card becomes unstable, or the performance drops below playable levels for your games.

EDIT:

To be clear, undervolting has the potential(if it can be done and the card is stable) to allow your card to clock up to it's normal performance frequencies while drawing less power and generating less heat.

Lowering the power limit will make the card throttle itself to only draw the amount of power you limited it to, and no more. Thus controlling heat limits.

So undervolting in this situation will likely have a small performance preserving effect, and power limiting will be the main control on the temps.
