Vega 64 vs RTX 2060

If you've seen my post about the 1080, please ignore it, it's hard to find a 1080 at a suitable price range. 

 

In my area, I can get a Vega 64 for £240 (perhaps less if I do some scavenging?) or a OC 2060 for £250 cheapest. I was wondering if the Vega 64 was worth going for over the 2060 as this seems a bit closer, and I've heard of the 64 being a bit lound and power hungry (though bear in mind this has 3 fans and seems to have a reasonably beefy colour) I currently run:

i5-7600k 

16GBs 2400mhz RAM

530w 80+ bronze PSU

I can't think of a 530 watt PSU that's got strong enough transients to handle Vega. The 64 is a better deal, but your PSU probably can't even run it.

2060 because of the current state of drivers. 

The Vega 64 can probably be pushed to be faster but AMD drivers are currently fucked.

Oh... yeah that's also an excellent point lol, didn't even catch that. Vega cards are hongery boyes.

Vega 56 and 64 will happily take 250W full load on their own if not more, you need a better PSU than that to run it (both quality and wattage)

Vega 64 will draw almost 400W when overclocked. Your PSU might even have some trouble powering it @ stock. Get the RTX 2060 or upgrade your PSU as well.

Radeon VII is still Vega. 

When I get home and I'm tired and I just wanna game, only to have my entire rig full blackscreen, audio hang, then force restart after completing a level in DOOM (but before it saves) or when raiding in Destiny 2 with the homies uh... I wanna yeet the fucker out the window but the fact it's a launch card and I've had it for as long as it's possible to have an RVII (unless you were a reviewer) and it's in a custom loop keep me from doing so. 

If I had my Vega FE still I'd be able to tell you if drivers are fucked for that, but I don't so I'm assuming they're fucked on Vega anyways since it's a very similar arch. I do know wattman has always been fucky on every arch.

The Vega 64 isn't even that much faster than a 2060, mostly only pulls a bit ahead at 4k.

I wouldn't go for a card that draws almost double the power and produces so much heat for 5-10% more performance.

Would an overclocked RTX 2060 be able to reach Vega 64 speeds though? Thanks a lot, yeah chances are the Vega would be too power hungry anyway but I'd just like to know.

Overclocking a 2060 pushes it past Vega 64 performance, especially at 1080p and a bit at 1440p

If you switch it to PwrSave BIOS you're maybe losing 5fps, but the consumption will stay at around 200W. It should still be very fast imo. Also that 7600K is not going to consume much, even if overclocked. I think you should be fine even if you leave Vega 64 at stock.
