It doesn't look like you plugged the power button into the motherboard, according to the manual it's here

Hi this is my first pc build so I'm a beginner and might of made a simple mistake but I don't know what I did the first image is when the PC is on but I press the start button and nothing happens the second one is the back of the pc sorry about the finger and third one is the PC while it is not on. BTW the fans don't run the only thing that looks like it works is the motherboard led logo. Do I need a better PSU? Edit: I Just noticed the 8 pin connector on the motherboard is split into 2 and the one on the left is lower than the one on the right is that normal? Comment if you want more detailed pictures.

It sounds like you might have incorrectly connected the power button. Check the motherboard manual to make sure you connected it correctly, or just post a picture of the power button plugged in. And if you post all of your specs, it will help people try to help you

Which power supply is that? The cables look awful and very cheap. Is it an EVGA unit?

I didn't exactly know what you wanted me to take a picture of so I made some guesses

Is the CPU fan connected to the CPU fan header? The pc should never be on without the cpu fan connected properly or most systems will shut themselves down.

That is simply not true. Modern CPUs will run without a cooler for a quite a while. They will throttle a lot but they will take their sweet time shutting down.

I should have been a little more clear, I was talking about where you connect the power button to the motherboard. It's on the bottom right hand corner of most motherboards.

100% true. Have had it happen on more than one build and any working build I have ever done always has the CPU fan spin up on turn on even if it is at low rpm. Fact is it's a safety mechanism and any good motherboard will tell itself to shut off if it finds out that there is no cpu fan or pump connected. Thermal shutdown is entirely different if you are talking about the motherboard shutting down due to temps reading on the CPU getting too high.

Sorry this is my first build and I'm pretty clueless can you possibly specify what it looks like or what the letters/words it corresponds to (example image two) image 1 is the bottom right corner of my motherboard BTW this is my motherboard https://bit.ly/2RZdMoN
