i've tried to install the 64 bit version of windows 8 on a virtual machine but it says the processor doesn't support 64 bit virtual os. so i checked if i got vt-x on my processor. i have a i5 3210M and it has vt-x but if i look in the bios of my laptop there isn't an option to turn vt-x on. how can i turn it on?

The only option is to enable it in the BIOS.  Have you checked EVERY menu? What BIOS do you have?

Hmm ..

It seems to be a problem with that laptop. I found another thread here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/7033-Insyde-bios-mod-requests/page1421 of somebody asking for a BIOS mod to enable that option.

Maybe contact Acer and see if there is a BIOS update? I cant find any updates listed on their driver page for your model laptop.

Im not sure of a way to do that.

Have you tried removing Hyper-V?

Do it through the Add/remove features to windows. That might fix it.

In the Operating System version in the virtual machine settings of VirtualBox you need to set it to Windows 8 (x64).
