So for the past week or so I've been watching the computer chronicles. Now I'm not endorsing the youtube page or advertising for it, just to get that out of the way. I find these videos to be really interesting. Mainly to see how far we have come, the beginning relationships between companies and their ideas several decades ago. It's amazing to see how far we have come and what idea's they had back in the day either come to fruition or failed so long ago. (watch some of the stuff from the early to mid 80's )

Definitely not advertising, those videos are not his, are educational and outdated. But they are interesting and sometimes even funny to watch when comparing to modern tech.

It's only breaking the CoC if you are advertising your own stuff. You can't really advertise for something that's not yours. Then it's just sharing it with others.

Not in the way the CoC is against it, no.

It's advertising for that site, sure, but the CoC is primarily against personal advertising. i.e. "Yo guys, I make awesome Youtube videos. Come check them out. [link]" or "Hey guys, here's my referal code: (code) Go and buy stuff with it and you get 10% off." or whatever.

No kidding, if a mod decides it's against coc then let them lock the topic. Report it if you want, I don't care. But no need to get into some off topic bs when it isn't your job to moderate the forums.

One thing I found funny to watch about this episode I watched last night. They had this chip that boosted their 486 processor from 20Mz to 40mhz! I thought damn... here I am runnnig 4.7ghz lol

 

@JR1911 The 80's episodes are definitely the best, mainly because the tech is so far away from what we are used to today. It's really amazing how far we have come, I mean I've known it. But to see the products, the excitement, the way they were used back then and the cost. It's just amazing.

Yes but this was an add on card that doubled any processor speed.

I pretty much watched all of those videos on that channel. Very interesting, but there are some parts that are just funny to listen to, like that guy trying to take apart the IBM PS/2, and that other stuck up acting dude who said to never get an internal CD-ROM drive. 

 

Also, they seem to promote that old SCSI stuff like that was standard. With computers from back then, its been very rare that I've seen SCSI equipment inside them. Mostly IDE and MFM.

I don't see how anyone can stand not having a disc drive of any sort. The funny thing is though, he's just wrong in all times, since who the heck uses an external CD-ROM drive anymore, or back then, or any time for that matter, unless you are one of the few people who do use one with a desktop with no internal drive or one of the few people who still use netbooks.

I don't see how people dislike disc drives so much either. I have 2 blu ray burners. I grew up with having to burn discs a lot so I just can't let that go. And the ease of use with being able to copy disc to disc, burn while reading one with having two drives is just heaven for me. I personally don't think they look as bad in computers as people make them out to be.
