not sure what 1660 super i want to buy

Go to solution Solved by Vishera,

I recommend the Gigabyte Gaming OC with 3 fans,

The board is what they used on the RTX 2070 and the cooler is based on the 2080 Ti,

So the card is very cool and is a quiet card.

so I have money for a 1660 super but I'm not sure which one i want to buy i would like if it was at most 250usd

Zotac Twin (cheapest card that's good), EVGA SC Ultra (for EVGA customer service), or Asus Strix (best within $250)

Just took a second look at it,it's based on the PCB design of the 2070,not the same board as the 2070:

How is that even related? Even the layout is different, let alone actual components.

As op didnt know how to pick, its not qualified to pick a best answer as well :) (not meaning to be harsh to op)

Dont sweat it; if op is going by just 1 recommendation without checking back in or doing some own followup research thats on him/her.

Its not like a "which xxx is best" answer on the internet will always yield a single consensus consistent reliable result :)

Lets quote op and perhaps a bleep or email notify gets him back in the loop :)

Anyway that card i recommended is good, and the cooler is nice.

So it's not a bad choice.

If the OP is still looking at response, there is always another card to consider for $250ish.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XRqhP6/gigabyte-radeon-rx-vega-56-8gb-video-card-gv-rxvega56gaming-oc-8gd

It's aging, though it still sits somewhere between the 1660Ti and RTX 2060 in performance, and can be flashed to become even more powerful.

Sorry for tagging onto this thread, but I have the same dilemma.

ASUS TUF Gaming, Asus Dual Evo, Gigabyte OC and Zotac Twin for 1660 super are all the same price at my location.

Does Zotac Twin still beat the other models?

It can maybe beat the Gigabyte OC and TUF Two fan, not sure how it compares to the Dual and Tuf 3 fan. Asus' track record this time isn't so good though so I'll still stick to the Zotac Twin, just because I know how it performs.

get at least a tier C

Thanks. I bought an EVGA SC Ultra, but couldn't find it on the list.. I'm assuming it's the same as EVGA SC2 on that list? I was wondering if I could save a bit by getting something cheaper.

I'm assuming that Zotac Twin is in the same tier as Asus Dual, since I can't find any of the cards I listed above on that list :(

If the pcb and cooler didn't change too much from the gtx 10xx series, then the list may give a good idea of where the cards stand.

I tend to lean EVGA for nvidia cards just generally speaking. Their mid tier options are usually pretty inexpensive.

SC Ultra should be above SC/Black Gaming but below ftw. SC Ultra is a great cooler.
