New Lap top

Hi there everyone!

I am looking for a new laptop that I can take off to college, and there are so many to choose from. I really want some help sifting through the "meh" to find some good products.

I am looking probably for touch screen capability and a keyboard, so I have options for which one I want to use. Other than that I think it is all the generic bells and whistles (good display, good battery life..)

If anyone has suggestions, or personal experience with a good computer, I would love to have some feedback.

Lenovo Yoga 2?

Seems to check most of the boxes.

 

Personally I wouldn't get a touch screen laptop, and would go with a Samsung AtivBook, maybe the Acer S7 if you're fine with the glass top.

Something super light with a really long battery life.

The Zenbook is a good choice too.

What are you doing in college?

If you need it for programing, there's laptops that are good at that.

If you need it for video editing, there's laptops that are good at that.

If you're 3D rendering.....

If you're doing nothing....

the battery life is only average on the yoga 2 pro and the upscaling still has some issues.

 

My recommendations for laptops would be either the acer R7, mac book pro, or lenovo X240

The Lenovo isn't bad but I wasn't a fan of the screen size at all, especially when you can get 14" laptops for half the weight, much thinner and the same footprint. The screen also sucked.

It's great if all you care about is battery life though.

they've now got a 1080p IPS option for it now though.

Just picked up a Yoga 2 Pro yesterday... Such an epic laptop!  Would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for an ultrabook.
