Hi.

My FX-8350 is running now at 4.66ghz  on 1.475v, so i have heard that 8350 can run 4.8ghz at 1.45v

So why cant i get these results whit my CPU?

I am using Asus Crosshair v formula-z.

Every CPU is a bit different - not all of them can achieve the same frequency.

Could be the motherboard's limit BUT get CPU-Z and moniter the clock. If not then it's the limit.

What i mean is that if it doesn't go any farther then the CPU is built ot hit that clock. I could be wrong.

I can put voltages up to 1.5v and then it would be stable, but i think that 1.5v is too much for 8350.

But thanks anyway.

Almost all FX8350's will run stable 4.8ghz @ 1.5v (Think its part of the AMD factory test but could be wrong)

http://rog.asus.com/216552013/crosshair-v-motherboards/guide-overclocking-fx-8350-to-4-8ghz-on-crosshair-v-formula-z/

Also I have noticed that people have a very different idea of "stable" so don't look into what other say about voltages...

Once I have finished OC mine will post results and bios prints so you can have a look.

Currently @ 5.0 GHz :-) so watch this space....

I just went from stock to 4.4GHz at stock voltages and a multiplier increase.  It's only been a day but it seems stable...

This article was helpful.  http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

If it stays stable, I might get some faster RAM and push it harder.

you don't need faster RAM for higher overclocking. most records are set on dumb RAM

or single modules. you need cooling for CPU and VRM.

I currently have my 8350 at 4.6Ghz @ 1.4v. Had to lower it from the 4.8 I had since it's getting hotter in Texas.

Unfortunately I had to OC using FSB rather than multiplier. I have the same motherboard as you, latest BIOS. If I tried raising the multiplier it required a lot more voltage. Reading around I saw I wasn't the only one that found it better using the FSB. Worth a shot.

I'm running my 8350 at 4.6GHz @ 1.4v too but i didn't modify the FSB. I was thinking on try to overclock by FSB to see if i get better results, but i would like to keep the voltage like this.

Not all the cpus overclock the same, it's a matter of luck sometimes.

PD: With this video i get a few useful advises that can help you get more performance and stability.

And how hot does your CPU go now (h80 have almost same performance than my antec 620 except that you have lapped it)

I get around 55°C full load with OCCT. That's about the same temp I had when I had it running at 4.8Ghz @ 1.45v.

Like I said, getting hotter in Texas and I don't have AC in my room. Get's to around 30°C in here.

True.  It's more a case of 'want' than 'need'.   :D

Coolermaster V8 with a Noctua NF-F12 fan. I can't achieve a decent overclock until I hit 1.45v which gets me 70C+ temps
