First a couple of notes:

I have an ok system as is but think my hardware is beginning to show signs of aging. Aside from some slight system instability (aka random hitches in the otherwise smoothly running system, as well as random slow boot times for no discernable reason) the build I currently have suits my needs. As always faster would be nice, but overall my use for gaming and some blue ray backups/compression and general home pc use, my current hardware is adequate. Since I haven't found any software issues however, the buggy system is making me want an upgrade. I dont really want to start over since most of my secondarry components(GPU, psu, m.2) are newer(within the last year or so) but wouldn't mind the upgrade to a better platform. So below are my current specs, my ballpark budget, and what I am considering. Any suggestions are welcome as well as ideas on what is causing my current issues.

Coolmax 900w

WD_Black SN750 1TB NVMe SSD

HDD 1 TB SATA3

COOLERMASTER HAF-XB

Windows 10

Ballpark budget: 500 - 700 US $

Options:

Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi) ATX Motherboard

Fast 4/8 isn’t dead yet for gaming.  Things are definitely headed in that direction.  Hasn’t reached it yet.  Until games outstrip your core count it will work fine.  Your cores are pretty fast.  You just don’t have a lot of them.  I doubt you would see much if any actual speed boost in many games.  Might make a difference for some heavily cpu dependent games that use many multiple cores well.  It’s a bus that will need to be jumped on eventually most likely.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
