I need help trying to decide between these 2 laptops. The purpose of this laptop will be programming, some school work, travel, and some gaming(travel only 2 per year tho). These 2 laptops caught my attention between the good displays and nice battery life for a gaming laptop. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

those are both really nice looking, I am currently using
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QXLFLXT
and my biggest reason for ever promoting other people getting this is the face that this laptop has 2 M.2 slots and a slot for a 2.5 drive, it has memory upgrade space so like it has LOADs of potential for the price and it is nearly as powerful as the two you linked, I'm using it for Autodesk purposes and gaming. but between the two you are showing I would put my cart behind the MSI one, i have brand experience with them

I would not go for a acer laptop, it will have issues down the line due to quality also its a budget laptop so components like display is not exactly  top of the line.

Both laptops have decent specs, but when choosing a gaming laptop you're always sacrificing one thing or another. I'm currently using a new Dell G3 15 (https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/gaming-and-games/dell-g3-15-gaming-laptop/spd/g-series-15-3590-laptop/gn3590dovbs) with decent overall specs but very poor battery life. Personally I think ROG laptops are overpriced, but I might be completely wrong. I have a friend who uses an ROG laptop in a much higher price class that I game with pretty often. My Dell G3 kept up with him in performance fairly easily, with a slightly worse display but that's a fair trade-off imo. Although ROG is probably the better option, I've heard some bad remarks about the keyboard on ROG laptops, but I'm not sure about the MSI. If you had to get one of the two, get the ROG. If you're willing to spend extra money, I think the best gaming laptops overall are Alienware (https://www.dell.com/en-us/gaming/alienware-laptops), if you don't mind dragging them around. I think Dell ships free for most countries as well. But it's up to you and your budget at the end.
