So ive been planning a build to carry me through the next generation of games at a decent price. Right now i have an

amd ryzen 5 3600 6 core 12 thread processor

and

Asus rog B450-F motherboard.

Starting with this i was looking for a decent gpu and i like the sound of the Evga geforce 2070 super. Its a little over my price range but im planning on building this over time.

my question is, would I run into any compatability issues running these parts together?
Any better recommendations for running 1080/60 for most games?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

For 1080p/60fps you will be more than fine with even just a GTX 1660 Super.

The 2070 Super is arguably overkill just for that, so I'd only say it would be worth it if you also plan on upgrading your monitor fairly soon, to either 1440p/60Hz or 1080p/144Hz.

Some other "in-between" options would be the RTX 2060 or RX 5600XT (closer to the 1660S in terms of pricing), or the 2060 Super or RX 5700XT, the latter of which almost matches the 2070 Super in terms of performance, depending on the game.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Ok that makes sense. I already have a 1080p/144hz monitor that i just got for christmas so im good on that.

would any of those options be better for utilizing 144hz better? Or is it all mostly similar in performance?

Well, it all depends on what games you play. If all you play is esport titles such as CS:GO, Overwatch, etc., even the 1660 Super will be more than enough.

If you play the latest AAA titles and plan on maxing out most of the settings, then perhaps a 2060 Super or 5700XT might be worth the extra cost. Even a non-XT 5700 would be a great choice (on par with the 2060 Super on average), and if you want to get the most out of it and don't mind a little hassle, you could flash a 5700XT BIOS onto it and get some free performance from that too. What you do "lose" however by going with AMD is Nvidia Shadowplay and their NVENC encoder, but these aren't exactly "must-haves", at least for most people.

If you do go for a 5700(XT) though, stay clear of the TUF X3 model from ASUS and preferrably the stock blower cooler models too. You can check the forum's GPU tier list for more options here.

Ill have to do some digging into some specifics i might want. I appreciate all the help. This makes the choice much easier.
