I've already found a stable clock speed for my GPU. The maximum I could go 1389 MHz on top of the boost clock speed which alone brought the base clock to 1189 MHz without any fiddling. Higher clock speeds resulted in a crash and the clock speed being brought back down to 1189 MHz automatically in two separate cases.

Now I want to overclock my GPU memory, which I assume will help squeeze more FPS out of the games I play. To what extent should I overclock it? The base memory clock is 2700 MHz, or atleast that's what MSI Afterburner recorded it as during the Unigine Valley Benchmark.

I would look up reviews of your GPU, what values were applied successfully. The real gains by OC are from tweaking memory clocks, therefore, recommended. I would try it in 100Mhz increments (bear in mind: 100Mhz adjustment in afterburner-->200Mhz extra effective memory clock). Keep progressing, until you hit a plateau in benchmark scores, or, the scores start to deteriorate.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

So I've found speeds for both my core clock and memory clock which are stable and won't negatively affect my computer's performance. 1399MHz for my core clock and 3115MHz for my memory clock.

However, when I play a game like Insurgency, my core clock remains at the base clock of 1058MHz, whereas my memory clock does go up to 3115MHz. Does my GPU need to be utilised up to 80% or something for the OC and/or base boost clock (1139MHz) to work?
