First ever pc and thinking this could be it. Any advice on the components used and or alternatives. Also I'm new to all this and even though I have done a lot of research I wouldn't mind changing anything. (and yes RGB because it increases fps). I would be using it for gaming and work for university. Any help and advice I would be grateful for. Thanks

  • Get a better cooler
  • You don't need thermal paste, the cooler comes with it
  • Depending on price, the 2070 Super or 2080 Super is a better buy, though personally I'd wait for the 3000 series at this point and get something used in the interm
  • Do you have a good router? It's just as important, if not more so, than the adapter
  • You don't need an 850w PSU, you can easily do with a 650w
  • The Samsung drive is likely overpriced, I'd just get a cheaper 1TB SSD
  • Build it yourself. This has prebuilt written all over it

I am not really in the know when will the 3000 series be out roughly. Also the 2080 super is listed there.

Asus atx and matx b450-boards are quite bad compared to Msi:s lineup of b450 tomahawk, b450 mortar or b450 Pro Carbon.

I can get a Asus rog strix X570-F ATX Motherboard used from my friend and its in good condition but I wasn't sure if I should do it. If the motherboard is faulty can it damage my pc?

Is a 650W psu enough with also rgb strips and some room to spare. soz if stupid question

Yes, it's going to be fine. Rgb doesn't use that much energy. You can see in pcpartpicker it has a wattage approximation for the build.

Summer. I personally wouldn't be paying the premium a high end card commands right now when it's going to be beaten by something costing almost half as much in a few months.
