Ok, so browsing the web about this topic gave me all kinds of answers, so i though i might just try it on the techtipsforum where people seem to be competent. I want to upgrade my graphicscard to a 780/780ti not sure yet. I was now just wondering weather or not I need to take a new PSU into my financial calculations. My PSU is "just" a 500W bequiet. Most people probably will tell me that this is not enough but I read that what really matter is the amp it can put out on the 12V rail. That´ll be 36A and 432W. Also there is an OCZ Vertex3 a 1TB HDD and a 2500K (with a corsair h60) in my rig.

so what do you think? And is overclocking the CPU still an option then? (and is it even needed to not bottleneck the GPU?)

Thanks in advance for you help. If there is already a topic covering this, im sorry but i would appreciate a link.

It's pushing it, but possible. I would go with a 780 and 650W PSU.

Thanks for the fast replies. I guess i upgrade PSU this month then (Corsair RM Series 750Watt should be fine and "future prove" right ?) and wait for next months paycheck to purchase the GPU, maybe the launch of maxwell will cause a pricedrop anyways.

You can power two Titan's or 780 Ti's with that 750 Watt PSU. And as for what you should do, it depends on what you want. You should know that first Maxwell cards to lunch will a GTX 750 and others rebadges. The high end 20nm Maxwell cards will most likely ship around May so if you can wait until then you should.

Oh OK good to know. Just heard it will launch end of Feb this year. I currently have a GTX560Ti with the TwinfrozrII cooler now im wondering if I just grab another one of these as they perform really good for their price, and you can get them quite cheap right now.

Damn I suck at making decisions.
