I am getting low fps in games like CS GO and PUBG since a week, I used to get 250 to 300 fps in CS GO and 80 to 120 fps in PUBG but now I get 60 to 90 fps in CS GO and 10 to 60 fps in PUBG. I monitored the CPU, GPU temperatures and other info when pc was idle and when I was playing a game (10 minutes each) and this is what I saw. When idle the CPU temp is around 60 celsius, GPU temp is around 42 celsius, CPU usage is 0 to 20%. When I am playing PUBG the GPU temp is 58-69 celsius, GPU usage is around 90 to 100%, VRAM usage is 1088-2589 MB, GPU fan speed is 58-69%, CPU temp is 67-81 celsius. CPU usage started at 17%, went as high as 56%, then dropped down to around 10-15% and held there for a long time. RAM usage was 5926-9241 MB. FPS started at 90, went as high as 167, then dropped down to around 10 and held there for a long time. Is the CPU temp too high when idle? Why is the CPU usage so low? I can't figure out what exactly the issue is. I also tried reinstalling the GPU drivers.

My PC specs :

  • OS - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • CPU Cooler - AMD Wraith Spire
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3000 MHz
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING (BIOS version - F2)
  • GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
  • Storage - WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB and WD Blue 3D WDS500G2B0A SSD 1TB
  • PSU - Cooler Master MasterWatt 650 (650W 80+ Bronze)

anything happened a week ago? did you install some new drivers or antivirus or something? maybe the gpu temp limit is 70 and once it hits it, it's severely throttling. install msi afterburner and see what your gpu temp limit is and maybe push it up a bit to 85 and see what happens.

I don't know what the issue is, but idle CPU temps being at 60°C is not normal... Even 45°C is a bit high apparently, but it's fine with the stock cooler.

Try reinstalling the drivers or even uninstall some drivers if you installed any. I remember installing a socket driver for my motherboard, and my perfs were lower (not as low as you though), so yeah.

The nvidia gpu drivers got updated to 441.87, Windows got updated and I installed Roblox (my nephew wanted to play some game on it). GPU temp limit was 83 and I changed it to 86 but the FPS issue didn't get resolved.

Uninstalled the latest drivers and installed the previous driver (version 441.66) that didn't fix the issue but then I kept the pc switched off for few minutes and switched it on and now I get 60 to 100 fps in PUBG but there is a noticeable stutter every 1 second and I didn't notice anything weird with the temps.
