Linux Mouse with GUI based Driver Software

Greetings,

I am having a very hard time finding a multi button programmable mouse I can use in Linux Mint. I would like the mouse to include a GUI based mouse driver that runs in Linux Mint and allows me to assign keyboard shortcuts. I am not a gamer. I just need to program 8 buttons with keyboard shortcuts I commonly use.  My hope is someone in this community will provide some recommendations I can look up online.  Thank you for your time.

My move with that one would be to find the software (if it exists) first then see which mice work with it.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I heard around the grapevine that Roccat mice are the best option for Linux users.

Thank you to all for your postings.

Let me start over. Let's put the mouse hardware aside for now and just focus on the mouse software. Is there any Mouse manufacturer making Linux based mouse software that looks anything similar to the JPG file I have attached?

As you can see, it's Windows10 based software for a Vertical Mouse and I can configure it easily by interacting with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) showing the mouse buttons.

In contrast, in the Linux world all mouse configuration always resorts to using the Terminal. This is true no matter if it is a mouse from Roccat, Razer, Corsair, etc... they all expect you to spend hours learning how to configure a mouse using the Linux terminal.

That is insane. Therefore, I humbly ask again. If my goal is to buy a mouse bundled together with genuine Linux mouse software that looks similar to Windows10 mouse software, what mouse do I need to buy?

This is simply not true. While you CAN configure a mouse using the X11 configuration options you can use Synaptic for basic mouse and touchpad settings - it usually is ready to use on live-systems and after install, within the settings. Some search delivered libratbag for more advanced configuration for several gaming-mice. And it's not Linux not delivering the software, it's the hardware-side who's often refusing to give a hand.

Thank you to all for your post.

Allow me to ask the question a different way. What mouse is for sale right now in the market with onboard memory which enables the mouse to remember the keyboard shortcuts I assign to the buttons while configuring it using the Windows10 OS mouse software and then automatically applies the same mouse settings when I switch over to using the Linux Mint OS? I hope someone in this community can give me a straight answer to this question. My goal is to have a mouse with the same keyboard shortcuts onboard no matter if I use Linux Mint or Windows10.

I decided to ask the question in a different way because from what I gather there is currently no Mouse Manufacturer bundling together native GUI based Linux Mouse Software together with their mouse. If I am wrong about this I hope someone out there can correct me because I would love to have genuine Linux mouse software installed onto my Linux Mint that will allow me to configure my mouse with the same GUI approach I configure my mouse while in Windows10.

Thank you for your time.
