So I currently have the Gigabyte GA-H110M-A motherboard, a Core i7 6700, and a Radeon RX-480. I have been looking into an upgrade lately since newer games have started to somewhat tax my system (nothing serious, but I'd rather start looking at possible solutions sooner rather than later), but I've run into some problems that I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how to deal with.

I was looking into the RX-5700, but if I wanted that I would need a new CPU. It looks like an i7 8700K would be the right choice, but not only is it not available anywhere, it also isn't supported by my motherboard. I looked up the support list and it looks like a 7700K would also be a choice. I'm not too sure what the right move is. I am open to any suggestions regarding CPU/GPU combos.

I have also heard good things about the Ryzen CPUs, which I would totally be into getting, but the CPU support list for my current board does not have any AMD CPUs on it.

So to summarize: I don't know if a good upgrade is possible on my current motherboard, and if it is, I don't know what it is. I am open to any suggestions, and I have no particular brand loyalty.

You don't have to upgrade the CPU unless you require more performance for other uses than gaming, upgrade the GPU first and see how the combo works out, the CPU should be plenty good for gaming.

the only upgrade path is the i7-7700 which is similar to the 7700K except without overclocking support and you won't be able to overclock it anyway since the H110 Motherboard doesn't support overclocking, but anyway the difference between the 7700 and the 6700 is only a 300mhz clock bump, that's not worth paying any amount of money for as an upgrade.

Generally a motherboard designed for an Intel CPU (like yours) won't work with AMD Processors and vice versa. However I would still consider your CPU decent enough to run for a while.

What graphics cards are concerned, as Juular already asked, it depends on what you want to spend.

So are there any particular cards that someone recommends? Would the RX 5700 XT be good choice? I also noticed the GeForce GTX 2070 super, which is a bit more expensive than I originally said, but if it's worth it than I'd be willing.

I'm in the US, I'd say I'm willing to spend upwards of $400, maybe a little more if needed

All that with RX5700 ? 6700k goes for ~200$ on eBay, you need at least 300$ for reference blower RX5700 which is not a good buy by any means and i'd rather recommend nVidia GPUs anyway, AMD drivers are mess.
