Proposed server build, any thoughts?

Ok heres a simple server build, what do you guys think?

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 - 1TB (two of these bad boys)

RAM -  CRUCIAL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600

CASE - Corsair Carbide Series 200R

PSU - CORSAIR CX Builder Series Modular 430W

MOBO - MSI H81M-P33 - Intel H81

CPU - Intel Core i3-4130T

What do you guys think of this? Anything to weak or overkill, I am not a very experienced server dude.

So help is appreciated,

Thanks.

Depends on the use case

Besides the space, is it fine overall?

Yep, but you might want to go with a higher end PSU, server suffer a lot of strain.

Also have a spare hard drive handy in case of a fail.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

What is the intended use of this server? How reliable do you need it to be?

What OS do you intend to run on it?

It looks fine but I'd get less and larger hdd's.

The motherboard only supports 4 drives total and does not support RAID.

A single larger hdd would be better and less costly.

If running Linux, 4GB of memory would be sufficient. Even Windows would be fine with that.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Well in that case, unless you're intending to run ZFS (in which case: ECC memory and

a M/B and CPU that support them), I'd say you could scale back the CPU to a Pentium

and the RAM to 4 GB.

If you wish, you could then either go for a slightly more expensive motherboard (maybe

something with a few more SATA ports) and/or more or larger HDDs, depending on whether

or not more storage might be useful. Or you could of course just save the money.
