Good PC, terrible FPS

I recently got back into GTA 5 with my friends, but the game is literally unplayable in the state its in. I get absolutely terrible fps and the game often freezes. Why does my game not run smoothly?

My pc  specs are:

R5 2600

8gb ram 3000mhz

gtx 1070 ti

Also, I know someone was live in discord, but i wasn't in the stream, and its same performance even if discord is closed.

Hmm. I'm assuming you've tried reseating your gpu and ram but this sounds like you have a dead component in your system possibly

 

Edit:I would suspect ram but I'm not 100% sure on that

8gb of ram will be an issue, ESPECIALLY if you are running 1 stick with Ryzen.  How many sticks of RAM?

Yeah, its is one stick, but i have other friends with 1 stick 8gb too, and don't suffer from performance such as mine.

Sounds like you might have a ram bottleneck then I'm not familiar with gta so I can't tell you whether its ram heavy or not.

Ryzen likes 2 sticks. You'll get a significant upgrade if you get another one

Maybe try to reinsall the gpu drivers. I would do that before anything else.

Ryzen cannot breathe in single channel.  Promise.  So you are absolutely CPU bound atm due to not utilizing the Infinity Fabric this architecture needs to work at full throughput.  How do I know this?  Ive ran Ryzen on 1 stick.  GTA5 is a HUGE CPU hog and you are strangling your CPU.
