Laptop Thermal Paste?

Is there any community consensus on what paste we should be using for laptop CPU's and GPU's?  I just got a used EVGA SC17 and I think it could use a repaste. I have a bunch of arctic silver, but everytime I bring up Arctic silver people loose their minds about how it's "actually the worst thermal paste every for laptops"

Is this true? Or should I just chuck some arctic silver on there?

I've had Arctic Silver 5 on most of my electronics, never had any problems with it.

Edit: there's no real consensus that I'm aware of as to which thermal compound is best for a certain product

It might have not been on this forum, but I'm fairly sure I remember bringing up using Artic Silver 5 and a lot of dudes getting triggered.

AS5 used to trigger some kids here because they claimed it was "conductive".

I've not seen that happen anywhere, personally.

In my experience, it's a fantastic compound.

Yeah alright, that makes me feel a bit better.

Let's see what the laptop master themselves has to say about it @genexis_x

Welp, you're both wrong.  Artic Silver 5 is by far the worst tasting thermal paste.

But in seriousness -- I haven't seen anyone say it's terrible and if it's what you got then you should use it.

Performance of Arctic Silver (eg AS5) isn't great but will work fine in laptops

Would suggest CM Mastergel Maker Nano. Close to Kryonaut performance, but works well in all kinds on heatsinks (eg tripod heatsink, uneven surface), and doesn't dry up fast like Kryonaut. Good availability and price too

Well isn't this thermal expoxy? I'm not trying to make anything permanent lol. Besides this thread is old, I already slapped some arctic silver on there.
